This Construction Site Sensory Bin gives kids hands-on play as they dig, scoop, haul, and sort kinetic sand and rocks using toy construction vehicles.

Ingredients

  • Large plastic bin or tray
  • Kinetic sand
  • Toy construction vehicles
  • Small rocks or gravel

Instructions

  • Pour kinetic sand into the bin and spread it evenly.
  • Scatter small rocks across the sand, pressing some lightly underneath.
  • Add toy construction vehicles to the bin.
  • Invite kids to dig, scoop, dump, and move materials during play.
  • Encourage sorting rocks or creating paths and piles as they explore.

Notes

  • Add blocks or cardboard pieces to extend building play.
  • Include a brush for sweeping and clearing sand.
  • Swap rocks for different materials to change the texture.
  • Adjust bin depth based on the child’s age and scooping ability.
