Apple Juice Pretend Play Sensory Bin

A fall sensory bin filled with red-dyed rice, apples, cups, and straws for toddlers and preschoolers to pretend they're serving apple juice.

Fall Apple Juice Sensory Bin (Easy & Cheap!)

Ingredients

  • Uncooked white rice
  • Red food coloring
  • Gallon-size Ziploc bag
  • Baking sheet and parchment paper
  • Shallow sensory bin
  • Fresh apples
  • Plastic cups
  • Straws
  • Fake ice cubes or clear gems
  • Optional: tongs or scoops

Instructions

  • Place rice in a Ziploc bag and add red food coloring.
  • Seal the bag and shake until rice is evenly dyed.
  • Spread rice on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake at 220°F for 20 minutes, stirring halfway.
  • Let rice cool completely.
  • Pour cooled rice into a sensory bin and add apples, cups, straws, and ice cubes.

Notes

Supervise younger children around small items like fake ice cubes. Store dyed rice in an airtight container for future play.
